Integration of Civic Facility into the Historic predominantly masonry structures of one of America’s oldest cities with Johnman Hotvedt. A transparent entry elevation displays 19th Century image of police creating a connection to the 21st Century Community. The bricks used to clad the building are from the same plant as the surrounding 19th century buildings making a seamless fit in the streetscape.
The facility, partially funded by the Law Enforcement Assistance Act. contains an advanced traffic monitoring and criminal lawforce and dispatch system integrating both Police and Fire response. The building contain a weapons training range, gymnasium, and an at-risk youth counseling component.
