603 N. Canon Dr. residence
Built
603 North Canon Drive, Beverly Hills, CA, USA
Construction consists of an addition of a self-contained guest house to a large main residence and includes a great room, bedroom, bath, kitchen and three car garage. The free standing addition is located next to the existing main house and studio to form an urban compound. The new house is carefully scaled and detailed to resemble the older Cape Cod style residences. A series of steep roofs, attic dormers and porches give texture and relief to the simple, saltbox forms. The exterior is clad in white painted wood siding. The wood materials are carried into the interior with dark wood floors, and the walls are white painted wood plank paneling. The exposed wood beams, trusses and decking give form and scale to the large, open interiors. A massive brick fireplace anchors the main space. Extensive landscaping unified the main residence and guest house.
