Morgan Park Esther Snyder Community Center renovation & expansion
4100 Baldwin Park Blvd, Baldwin Park, CA 91706, USA
Albert Group Architects was retained to provide a conceptual design for renovations and a 2nd story addition to the Esther Snyder Community Center in the City of Baldwin Park, CA as part of the City's application for approximately $8 million in California SPP (Statewide Park Development & Community Revitalization Program) Round 3 grant funds authorized under California's Prop. 68 in 2018. SPP competitive grants finance the acquisition and development of new parks and new recreation opportunities in critically undeserved communities across the state. As written in the Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Act, "the program seeks to encourage community participation in, and a greater sense of responsibility toward, new parks and recreation facilities which will help keep them clean and safe and which will enhance community pride and sustain neighborhood vitality."
The project calls for the renovation of 13,000 SF of existing community center space in Morgan Park and the creation of an additional 12,000 SF to house a new computer lab, dance room, fitness studio, and new administrative offices in a LEED Certified building.
