The design intent of the East Rancho Dominguez Community Center was to provide an attractive and secure environment for the community. It contains a full-sized combination basketball and volleyball court, side courts, lockers, showers, and toilets. The project also included renovation and expansion of the tennis courts, the open expanse of the park, strengthening the backdrop for different outdoor activities.
The main gym structure beneath the arch of the roof structure is a mix of CMU blocks, glass blocks, and lightweight transluscent plastic panels.
From the park's website, "This very busy 5-acre park is a staple in the community with many recreational programs and community events. The park is most known for being the location where tennis greats Venus and Serena Williams learned to play tennis. East Rancho Dominguez Park, formally known as East Compton Park, is home to several yearly traditions including an annual tree lighting ceremony and a celebration luncheon for law enforcement and firefighters each year on 9/11."
