JEM Community Center

The JEM Community Center is currently housed in a 38,000 SF 2-story brick structure that was formerly a YMCA.

The Center is a Jewish-based non-denominational facility that houses a wide variety of spaces that can be rented out by the community including recreational spaces, meeting rooms, & rooms that can be used for social, cultural, religious, & educational enrichment activities.

The Center's mission:

"Our mission is to provide a safe, all-embracing community center for youth after school with guidance & mentors to build their character & channel their energy in a positive way through exciting sports, recreational, & educational activities while instilling moral values & tolerance, thereby uniting all youth to become caring citizens & productive leaders of society, preventing drugs, violence, abuse, addictions, & todays modern calamities.

Albert Group proposes a brand new, 131,000 SF, 6-story steel-framed facility clad in Jerusalem stone at the base structure & white-painted metal panels on the super-structure above.

The Jerusalem-stone-clad base of the new structure is proposed to house:
A pool with spectator seating, showers & locker rooms, a 2,200 SF dining & social hall (seating about 150 people), a 2,500 SF sanctuary (seating about 300), a commercial kitchen, staff offices, a cafe, an NBA-sized basketball court with spectator seating, batting cages, a climbing wall, a fitness studio, a dance room, an art & ceramics room, a library/study hall, 8 classrooms, & a 5,000 SF mid-level roof deck space.

The metal-clad superstructure at the top will house:
54 residential units (composed of a mix of studios & 1-bedrooms) that are intended to house visiting athletes, visiting scholars, & seniors' housing.
